Prague’s Strahov Monastery Library is contained within the Strahov Monastery, founded in 1149. Segments of the library’s
interior include Theological Hall, built in 1679, and Philosophical Hall, completed in 1779. The monastery was transformed
into the Museum of National Literature in 1950 after becoming occupied by the Communist government, though all was not lost;
fortunately, the monastery and library were returned to the Premonstratensian order and the buildings restored when the
Communist regime fell out of power in 1989. Today, it is one of the best libraries, holding more than 110,000 volumes,
including over 1,200 incunabula.No Records Found
